A like new, 55 cubic foot steel cylinder complete with new valve, fresh paint and current hydro-test.  These tanks have been shot peened, cleaned, painted, and have brand new valves, so they are 100% as good as new cylinders.  The rating on this tank is either DOT or ICC 3AA 1800 (the 2nd picture shows a DOT 3AA1800 rating), or 3A 1800, which means it has a working pressure of 1800 psi.  The tanks have a new CGA-580 valve which will allow you to fill the cylinder with  argon, argon/CO2 mixes, nitrogen or helium.  These gasses are commonly used for MIG and TIG welding.  The tanks are shipped empty and we cannot ship them filled.  Paint may be imperfect.
Old cylinders will have an ICC (Interstate Commerce Commission) and newer tanks will have a DOT (Department of Transportation). The ICC was the standard identification markings and then later was changed to DOT in the late 1960s or early 1970s.
If you are local in the Chicago area, you can pick the tank up from our facility in Elk Grove Village and save the shipping.  If you would like it filled with 75% argon, 25% CO2, we can do it for you on the spot for $21.82 or 100% argon for $ 21.82.  And if you have another small cylinder that you already own and want filled, we can do that too!
We strongly recommend that you check with your local distributor to make sure they will fill the tank.
Welding Distributors can make up their own rules, and many times won’t fill tanks you own.  Let them know you have a 55 cu ft cylinder, that is rated 3AA1800 or 3A1800, and is valved CGA-580 for argon or argon/co2 mixtures and they will tell you if they will fill it or not.
Please do not buy this cylinder unless you are 100% sure you can have it filled.
The tanks have a current test date of 11/16 (shown in the 3rd picture) and are good until November 2026.  These tanks represent a great value!  Perfect for Mig Welders like the Hobart Handlers, Lincoln SP135 and 175, and Miller 135 and 175 and any other small mig welder on the market.  If you have your flowmeter set to 20 CFH, these tanks will give you 2 hours and 45 minutes of welding time.
